Pure as the Water you Drink
This piece draws on history in a number of ways. The beauty of the mass-produced object is one of the first things you notice. Each piece of clay pipe in the box is a piece of history that was lost and has now been found. History has a way of highlighting mistakes that have been made, making us question what we have been told. Chesterfield cigarettes once had an advertising campaign that claimed they were 'just as pure as the water you drink', showing that what we're told is good for us isn't always in our best interest.
This piece was on display without the base as part of the Ilminster Arts Centre Open Exhibition in the summer of 2024. In September 2024, the base was added and the piece can currently be seen in the Bath Society of Artists Open Exhibition at the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath, running 13/10/24 - 11/1/25.
If you are interested in this piece of art, please be aware that depending on the outcome of the exhibition it may not be available for some time. Please contact us to find out more.
